Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] September 18: Mrs. Jyoti Mayal, President of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), has become a monumental figure in the travel and tourism industry, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of travel in India and beyond. As the face of the industry, Mrs. Mayal’s leadership has not only helped glide through the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic but has also set a course for sustainable growth, innovation, and collaboration within the sector in Gujarat. Moreover, she has been closely working with the Government of Gujarat to provide industry status for travel agents, which would serve as a major boost for the whole sector.

During the pandemic, Mrs. Mayal took significant steps to address the hardships faced by travel agents and operators, spearheading a series of skilling and upskilling initiatives in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism (MoT). This effort ensured that TAAI members remained equipped to adapt to the evolving landscape. Her persistent advocacy for agent rights led to successful negotiations for refunds from airlines, while her work with the Ministry of External Affairs enabled the smooth reopening of visa processes, further supporting the recovery of the sector.
